Severe Weather Rocks Cincinnati Last Night

There was a moderate-sized outbreak of severe weather over the Cincinnati area last night.

Between 8:15 PM and 10:45 PM, thunderstorms rolled through areas primarily north and east of downtown. The amount of reports stacks up like this (all locations are in Ohio unless otherwise noted):

2 confirmed tornadoes in Bethel and Wilmington, Ohio, plus one that isn't confirmed yet near Oxford, another in Georgetown, and another possible one near Hillsboro
Funnel clouds in Mason (2), Hamilton/West Chester (2), Oxford (1), Amelia (1), and Hillsboro (1)
Numerous reports of hail and high winds, in places such as Wilmington, Goshen, and Newport, Kentucky

A friend of mine in Indianapolis (actually, the same one I will be staying with next week) was also under the gun, but luckily the tornadic storms missed her house. Unfortunately, there were unconfirmed reports of a tornado north of Indy as well, and the NWS will investigate that report today.

3 notes on a Sunday early morning for you.

1) As noted earlier in the week, I'll be out of town the weekend of June 4-8. This blog will go on hiatus, as will TSMW/TSDTW. All three blogs will return either the evening of June 8 or the morning of June 9.

2) As for "I Like...Because..." postings. Those will go on hiatus after today's planned posting about Pete Coleman. I won't have time to do those postings this coming week pre-hiatus. (Packing sometimes will do that, getting in the way of this little thing we call "blogging".) When I get back, I am thinking about doing 3-4 "I Like...Because..." posts that week. (Of course, as Tri-State DTV Watch AND Tri-State Media Watch will be extremely busy June 10-12 covering the upcoming transition to digital, I'm not sure how many will actually make it on the schedule. But I'll try to anyway.)

3) Finally, I'm sure some of you would like to see some results of my travels with the newly-rechristened "Thoughts and Observations Cam". Here's a picture of yours truly, taken this week. More pictures coming, and I am thinking of a separate blog for those.

I Like Brian Fowler Because...

AUTHOR'S NOTE: As I told you earlier, I am spotlighting Brian Fowler for this edition of "I Like...Because...". Coming up on Sunday afternoon (if Real Life doesn't Intervene between now and then): FBC's Pastor to Young Adults and Media, Pete Coleman.

So, tonight I am spotlighting someone who I pretty much went through the high school years knowing fairly well. He went through them with me from 2001 to 2004, when I graduated high school, and he was still a junior. Now, we hang out every Tuesday night and see each other other times during the week some weeks. That someone is Brian Fowler.

You might notice the theme with most of these posts. Not only are all of them facebook friends, but most, if not all, have some belief in God like I do. Brian is another example. He walks the Christian walk every single day. It's difficult not to see Christ in Brian.

Brian is very much an active member of FBC. He's there every Sunday and every Tuesday night. He often helps out with setup when needed. You don't have to ask twice, he's usually willing and able to jump in.

Brian is also very much a contruting member of society. Indeed, his current major project, when not working for General Electric's plant in Evendale, Ohio, is the Boone County Relay For Life. (This year's RFL is June 26-27 in Union, Kentucky.) He is a member of the Superstars team, with which it will be my privilege to walk this year. (I will also be participating in one of three RFL events in Indianapolis next week, or at least I am planning on it.)

Finally, Brian is a family man. He has a great girlfriend, Amanda Isaacs, along with an awesome family and a good support system. His friends are also highly important to him.

As always, the aim of the "I Like...Because..." series is to spotlight the friends I have, and to let them know how much they're appreciated. I gain nothing but good vibes by doing this, while they gain gratitude among other things. That is why I like Brian Fowler. As always, go leave him a comment letting him know you're grateful for his friendship. (Especially those of you who go to FBC with us.)

I ask for your prayers again today.

My uncle Terry Ludwick informed my family this morning that his mother, Dorothy Ludwick, died over the holiday weekend. She was 82 years old.

Funeral is tomorrow, visitation tonight at 6p-8p in Ross, Ohio, and my uncle is going to be working on his eulogy for his mom this morning at my home here. Please pray for him, and for me and the rest of the family.

I will be out of Northern Kentucky from the afternoon of June 4th to the night of June 8th. I am traveling to Indianapolis to take a personal, solo vacation away from the city of Florence. I will be back to the blog on June 9th.
